The best time of the year to buy a shed is in the spring, especially April and May. In springtime, the stores are fully stocked and ready to sell you their newest shed releases at a lower price. The best sales on sheds also happen in fall. But keep in mind that the stock may be limited by then.

Shopping Guide: When Is The Best Time To Buy A Shed?

Hot Tip: Buy A Shed Off-Season

The best time to buy a shed is in the months leading up to summer and after it. Summer is the worst season to buy a shed because this is when they are most sought-after.

Stores jack up the prices of sheds in June, July, and August in the hopes of getting the most out of customers who buy at the very last minute and don’t buy ahead. You will find a much better deal on a shed offseason, in spring and fall. Let’s look at why.

Buy A Shed In Spring

The best time to buy a shed is in the spring. This is when the stores offer discounts on their latest models to kick-start the year and make good sales after a slow winter.

The best month to buy a shed is April or May. This is when stores tend to offer discounts on their sheds to draw in new customers. So get your calendar ready and jump on this opportunity when the time comes.

Spring is the best time to buy a shed because stores have a full inventory. And you are most likely to find your dream shed when the stores are fully stocked. If you have your eyes set on a particular shed, don’t wait for fall discounts. Get it early while it is still available.

When you buy a shed in the spring, you will have it delivered and assembled in time for the summer. Many people who buy semi-custom or fully custom sheds in summer don’t get them delivered in time. Delivery may take longer in the summertime when stores are overwhelmed with orders.

So be the early bird that gets the worm!

And you don’t have to buy a custom-made shed. You can buy amazing premade resin sheds and metal sheds from my review lists.

This video will help you decide between resin vs wood vs metal sheds:

Buy A Shed In Fall

If you miss the spring deals, you still have fall as your backup. As soon as summer comes to an end, you can expect sheds to go on sale. In fall, stores mark down what’s left of the inventory to get in as many sales before winter.

Stores significantly slash prices in October and November to get rid of the last odd spring and summer items and make room for snowblowers and other winter tools. This is the time when the biggest sales events happen. Be on the lookout for Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals

If you are looking to get a shed for little to nothing, buy one that has been on display all summer long. These can sometimes go for very cheap. Call the store ahead of time and ask them when their display models go on sale. You won’t regret it.

In the fall, you are guaranteed to get a good discount, but there tends to not be so much selection at this time of year and stores will often only have limited inventory available

If you buy a shed in the fall, you will get it delivered well ahead of the following summer and have plenty of time to set it up before then. If you don’t plan on building your shed till next year, though, you will need a lot of storage space for those big boxes.

I recommend you check if your shed has come with all the parts before setting it aside for the winter, so you can return or exchange it while you are still eligible.

Hot Tip: Avoid Buying A Shed In Summer And Winter

A picture of a backyard with a resin shed and a flowery vine fence and leafy shrubs

Most people don’t realize that they need a shed until the summer when they buy a new lawnmower , new grill , and upgrade to better patio chairs . All this lawn equipment and accessories need to be stored in a dry and secure space so they can increase your property value

Stores have recognized this pattern and are making the most of the summer buying frenzy. Avoid buying a shed in the summer unless you are really needing one at the moment. You can usually get the same shed for cheaper in spring or fall.

Many buyers assume that they will get their shed delivered right away since they bought it in the prime season. But the delivery time of your shed may take longer in the summer because of increased demand.

Some people also have a false impression that sheds are only sold in the summer when their marketing is at its peak. This is not the case. Sheds are sold throughout the whole year.

But enough about summer, let’s talk about winter!

Buying a shed in the winter is not the best idea despite the huge sales happening at the end of the year. Here is the reason why.

If you buy a shed in the winter, you most likely won’t set it up till spring. You won’t know if the shed is broken, defective, or missing parts until your return and exchange period expires. You will be forced to try to use your warranty to get it fixed.

If you decide to buy a shed in winter, I recommend you inspect it thoroughly upon arrival
